RDG 202 – Reading Instruction Methods

This course provides a holistic approach to literacy instruction by integrating instructional strategies across all five essential areas of reading: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Through comprehensive lesson planning, candidates will learn how to effectively teach, differentiate, and assess each of these components, catering to the diverse needs of learners. By bridging theory with practical application, candidates will develop literacy lesson plans that are both informed by research and responsive to individual student needs. Emphasis is placed on the role of assessment in driving instructional decisions, with candidates learning to utilize assessments to provide targeted feedback and engage learners effectively throughout the learning process.
