District Resources

Thank you for being a part of ESD-U and helping to prepare the next generation of teachers.

ESD-U’s alternative route teacher certification and endorsement program emphasizes a “grow your own” approach in partnership with local school districts. Applicants must secure a field experience placement for the upcoming school year, approved by district HR staff. This placement is necessary to meet program requirements and involves various steps, including an initial agreement and further confirmation if the applicant is accepted into ESD-U. As key details of the placement must be shared with ESD-U staff, such as the placement approval, position, location, dates, and contacts; below are a few documents to complete for all candidates.

ESD-U District Placement Process

1. Complete the Field Experience Agreement Form. Typically this form is completed during the candidate’s application process, and does not need to be completed again unless the placement is changing to a different district.

2. Respond to the inquiry from the program (coming from an application called “Smartsheet”) by entering any information that is missing on the form. The information required is: (a) District key contact, title, and email address; (b) District secondary contact, title and email address; (c) additional district contact (if applicable), title and email address; (d) Mentor name and contact information (for initial certification candidates), (e) confirmation of mentor qualification; (f) school where candidate will be placed; (g) candidate’s position for the school year; (h) anticipated or requested dates for student teaching.

Once ESD-U receives the information for your candidate(s), you will receive a link to a district summary sheet, so you can review or change information at any time during the year.
